The Key
Siesta Key is an eight-mile-long barrier island about 50 miles south of Tampa off the west coast of Florida known for its incredible beaches and beautiful weather. Founded in 1986, Siesta Key is home to more than 24,000 full time and part time residents as well as a wide array of tropical trees, plants, and birds. While all the conveniences of modern life are easily accessible, Siesta Key is still remote enough feel like old Florida. The roads that wind to Siesta Village and the beaches are lined with tropical flowering plants and mature trees. Beach walkers and joggers are accompanied at the water's edge by a variety of birds including sandpipers, gulls, heron, and egret, and often dolphins can be seen playing and feeding just offshore. The expansive beaches are lined with palm trees and tropical plants with lush, green foliage. Siesta Key is a tropical paradise, beautiful year-round.

Siesta Key Community
Only a limited number of resorts and hotels are located on Siesta Key, so vacationers usually stay in condos and private homes and cottages. Because they live among the residents during their stay, visitors easily become part of the community and are welcomed into the Siesta Key lifestyle. Vacationers quickly relax into the casual, friendly atmosphere and soon feel right at home wherever they go on Siesta Key. Siesta Key Village is an area near the north end of the key where vacationers and residents gather for dancing, dining, shopping, and fun. Each evening offers something exciting and entertaining. There are other shops and restaurants – something for any taste or mood – located all across the key. French, Italian, American, and Oriental restaurants offer delicious cuisine to suit even the most discerning tastes. Crab, lobster, raw oysters, blackened fish and unique local dishes are specialties at many of the waterfront and casual seafood restaurants on Siesta Key. For a little more excitement, try a nightclub with live music, and don't miss the popular Sunday night Siesta Beach drum circle where musicians and dancers are joined by the public in a weekly celebration. Water sports are also a big part of life on Siesta Key, with parasailing, kayaking, boat rentals, guided tours, and fishing available. The city of Sarasota, which is connected to Siesta Key by two bridges, also offers a diverse mix of cultural, natural, scientific, and family fun attractions. Check out the Things to Do page.

Siesta Key Beaches
Siesta Public Beach Siesta beach is the most famous of our beaches with its cool, soft, brilliant white sand. At the "Great International White Sand Beach Challenge" held in 1987, Siesta Beach was recognized as having the "whitest and finest sand in the world." While beaches elsewhere are made up of mostly coral, Siesta Beach's sand is 99% quartz, which makes it almost sparkle. In fact, the sand is so reflective that even on the sunniest days it feels cool underfoot. The water at Siesta Beach is as incredible as the sand. It is a beautiful blue-green with small waves gently lapping at the shore. The water at Siesta Beach is so shallow that wading is often possible hundreds of feet offshore. This combined with the four lifeguard stations make it one of the safest beaches around. The beach also has facilities including picnic areas, restrooms, concession stands, trails, tennis and volleyball courts, playground and it's within walking distance to the Siesta Key Village.
Crescent Beach
Crescent Beach which is located just south of Siesta Key beach offers the same crystal white sand and azure waters, but it is more peaceful and private. There is only one public access to Crescent Beach and most visitors are staying in nearby resorts. The southern tip of Crescent Beach offers a snorkeling and diving area called Point of Rocks. Point of Rocks is rich with coral rock formations and marine life.
Turtle Beach
Shell collectors should check out Turtle Beach a few miles south of Siesta Beach. The sand is not as powdery, but the beach is less crowded and thousand of shells wash onshore in all shapes and sizes. Turtle beach is more narrow that Siesta Key beach and Crescent beach and has a somewhat steeper incline. The beach has restroom facilities, picnic areas, a boat ramp, horseshoe courts, and a secluded lagoon for fishing.
Spectacular Sunsets can be viewed from all of Siesta Key's beaches every evening. You won't want to miss this awe-inspiring experience.
